Picks of the Week
We’re at the point in the summer where kids start to get really bored. At the library I’ve got more kiddos reading than ever, more playing games than ever, and more getting into squabbles with each other at the same time. I think the collective internet had the same stir-crazy realization this week because there are a bunch of new kid-friendly yarn ideas out this week.

I love how refreshing this collection of ideas is this week. You’ve got great tutorials on crochet projects, a knit tshirt yarn clutch (and you know I love those), and even that rare unicorn of a tutorial – a flower loom DIY!
Knit Lightning Bolt Toy
This wee lightning bolt makes a great baby toy, gift topper, key chain or holiday ornament. Knit in two pieces which are then stuffed and seamed together, it comes together in no time.

Easy Sew: Drawstring Project Bag
Like many yarn crafters, I’ve got roughly a thousand and one works-in-progress laying about, so I regularly find myself in need of more project bags. As I knit and crochet over the years, I realized that the best project bag is nothing more than a simple rectangle with a drawstring top. You can toss the bags in your purse to keep your skeins in order, you can toss them in a suitcase, and you can easily store them with your other WIPs without worrying about yarn running amok.

Look at all this color! I’m always so excited to share refreshing summery crochet ideas, but the amount of brightness and fun among the new posts on the blogs this week was next level.
