Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, is this Friday, and it has to be one of the most visually inspiring days of the year for me. It’s about more than just sugar skulls and fancy face paint, by the way. While I grew up Catholic with an awareness of All Saints’ Day, I didn’t know much of anything about Mexican Dia de los Muertos celebrations. I started working in a Mexican-American neighborhood library this year and have learned a lot from my co-workers about the hallmarks of the holiday. I must say – I’m completely smitten.
